Congratulations Jiaying Zhao
Thursday 6 June 2013

Jiaying Zhao has had many reasons to celebrate lately. She has recently submitted her PhD thesis on ‘Changing cardiovascular disease mortality and advancing longevity: Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Taipei’. Jiaying’s doctoral supervisors were Zhongwei Zhao, Heather Booth and Adrian Sleigh (National Centre for Epidemiology & Population Health).

After completing her thesis, Jiaying took up a position as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the National Centre for Epidemiology & Population Health at ANU. Her research will focus on health and environmental transitions and related mortality patterns especially in Thailand, China and our region.

Jiaying has also won a Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad from the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC). This award recognises outstanding research accomplishments of Chinese graduate students studying outside China without Chinese government funding.
